Beverly Wade Hogan is the first female to serve as President of Tougaloo College. Prior to becoming President, Hogan held a number of high-ranking positions in state government and the private non-profit sectors. Among her extensive lists of accomplishments, Hogan helped to establish the first rape crisis center and the shelter for battered women in 1975. She volunteers and serves on various boards, including the United Way, Mississippi Women's Political Network, Mississippi Infant Mortality Task Force and the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra. She also serves on the boards of Entergy (MS) and the Foundation for the Mid-South. She is a founding member and past president of the Central Mississippi chapter of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women.
