Rev. Charles Polk
Pastor

Reverend Charles Polk, a former member of The Jackson Southernaires until God called him to preach, has been the pastor of St. Luther M. B. Church for thirty years. Because of his unique style of preaching, Rev. Polk’s church has grown tremendously, and he has earned the nickname "The Sound of Thunder."

Rev. Polk truly has a heart for people, and is known for his unselfish giving to others. He is particularly concerned about the poor, senior citizens and the youth. Each year, for the past twenty-four years, he has worked to raise money and gather food donations for senior citizens through what is now know as the "Craig D. Bluntson/WOAD Senior Citizens Food Drive." His community and civi affiliations include the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, NAACP, Ministries Union, Mississippi National Baptist Convention USA, board member of the Mississippi Mass Choir, Mississippi Health Services, Inc. board member, and Financial Secretary of the Mississippi Baptist State Convention.
