ABOUT THE MAJESTY AWARDS

Today, as it was in the early 1900s when Carter G. Woodson founded Negro History Week, very little documentation exists detailing the great achievements of African Americans.  In the same spirit as Woodson, Novia Communications and Media Group created the Mississippi Majesty Awards to highlight the positive contributions of African Americans.

Established in 2001, the Mississippi Majesty Awards is an annual celebration, which recognizes the positive achievements and contributions of African American living legends who reside in or have strong ties to Mississippi.

Some people have asked why we use the word “majesty” to describe honorees and the celebration created.  In Webster’s Dictionary, majesty is defined as grandeur, greatness or splendor of quality or character.  What better way to describe the lives and accomplishments of the Majesty Award honorees?

As a part of the Mississippi Majesty Awards celebration, we prepare informative video documentaries and entertaining artistic performances for a diverse crowd of friends, community and business supporters who come to Mississippi from all across the country.  Attendees truly enjoy a majestic evening!

The Mississippi Majesty Awards . . . This is our tribute to greatness.
